The Lisa Computer, introduced in January of 1983, had to have been
the biggest flop in the history of Apple. Every product developed at
Apple has a code name as it is being developed, this is one that
stuck. It was named after the child that Steve Jobs would not yet
recognize as his biological daughter.
One regret from working at the Dallas Support Center is that we did not grab one of the hundreds of Lisa’s that were thrown into the dumpster behind the loading docks. One night leaving work we saw the dumpsters overflowing with Lisa computers. We were tempted to grab a few, but everyone at work said that they were trash and Corporate had ordered them trashed. Who knew they would end up a part of history?
